QWhat age do I have to be to participate?

AFor studies involving healthy volunteers our participants are aged between 18-55 years. We cannot accept participants younger than 18 years.

QWill I experience (side) effects?

AYou may experience temporary mild to moderate (side) effects, such as headache. The chances of experiencing an effect will be outlined in detail during the consent process and depend upon which drug is being studied.

QDo we get compensated for participation?

AYou are paid at the completion of the study and the payment depends on the length of the study and the number of blood samples required.

QCan I be taking any other medication while participating in a study?

AFor healthy volunteer studies you should not be taking prescription medication, over-the-counter medications, natural remedies, herbal or traditional preparations, or nutritional supplements.

Prescribed hormonal contraceptives (e.g. the contraceptive pill, implant, IUD) are continued however.

QWhat screening procedures are conducted for healthy volunteer studies?

ABefore beginning the study, you will undergo a routine physical examination which will be carried out by a medical practitioner.

An electrocardiograph (ECG) recording will be made to assess your heart. Diagnostic blood/urine samples will be taken before and after the study to enable an assessment to be made of your kidney, liver and haematological profiles.

You will be required to provide a urine sample to test for Marijuana and other recreational drugs. The urine sample must be provided at Zentech premises.

A test for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV will be performed before the study.

Females will be required to provide a blood sample for pregnancy testing before, during and after the study.

QHow many studies can I do in a year?

AMost studies have a 60 day stand-down period.

QDoes Zentech provide food and can we bring our own food?

AWe provide lunch and dinner at the Zentech Clinical Site. You are not permitted to bring your own food to the clinical site. You are only allowed to consume the meals provided (i.e. no additional food intake is allowed on the dosing days). The meals provided however are substantial and nutritious.

QHow do I register?
